Travis Skaggs travels to  Ireland to participate in the Ger Hartmann and  Diane Bennis Wedding Oct. 2, 2006

A few hours later, we headed to the famous Tom Duffy Silkroad Circus at Tipperary Racecouse, Limerick Junction. This was one of the best Circus events that I have ever been to. Performers from Chinese National Circus and joined with great performers from Europe created a show that has to be seen to appreciated. 

The next day, Ger Keane and I  traveled to County Kerry for two great hikes.  One was in Killarney National Park where we saw a great waterfall.  The other hike was much longer and steeper.  I really enjoyed both hikes. 

Later that day we went to Limerick to visit Hartmann International Sports Clinic where we met Gerard Hartman.  Gerard and I went on a bicycle trip around Limerick and ended up at the University.  Later that night I checked in to the Adare Manor and Golf Course.  This is one of Europe's finest 5 star Hotels.  The property contains 840 beautiful acres and will be the site of the Irish Open Golf Tournament through 2009.

The next morning I did laps in the pool and then it was off in a helicopter to Dromoland Castle for brunch with Gerard Hartmann, Kelly Holmes (Double Gold Medal Winner at the 2004 Summer Olympics) A.K. Kelly, ( Dublin Therapist) Patrick Hartmann, (Father of Gerard Hartmann)  Frank O'Mara, (Gold Medal Winner of 3000 World Indoor 1987, 1991) and Marcus O'Sullivan (3 Gold Medal winner in World Indoor 1500 and over 100 sub 4 minute miles)  We then flew over the Cliffs of Moher, a famous tourist site in Ireland.  Our next air visit was the Aran islands of ireland which are about 30 miles from the coast line.  It is interesting to see the stone fences dividing the small plots of land from the air.   I was informed  that English is a second language there where the ancient tongue is preferred. 

Later that day, October 2nd,  was the wedding day of Gerard and Diane, which was held at The Holy Trinity Abbey Church Adare County Limerick.  The church is within walking distance of the Adare Manor. Fr. Declan Deasy OSA, prior of St Patrick’s, Rome conducted "The Rite of Marriage"   Ger attested to his love of Diane by stating that, " there was nothing that he would change about her and that she was perfect."

I then went back to the Adare Manor to celebrate the marriage.  We had a wonderful reception, meal, and celebration dance.  I had my first experience with an Irish Line Dance.  It was great fun.  I slept for a couple of  hours and then it was time to head back to Sharnnon Airport  and then home.  

Congratulations to Dianne and Gerard.  You are both wonderful people that I am lucky to count as true friends. My wish to the two of you is many years of happiness.  You are off to a good start.
