WE BILL SELECTIVE INSURANCE COMPANIES
for our patients. Some we will not. We feel that insurance companies should be willing to
live up to their contractual responsibilities and pay
their bills in a timely manner. Sadly,
this is not always the case and an injured person is forced to
hire an attorney such as
J. Stan Morse,
Attorney St. Petersburg Auto Accidents, and Injuries
to force the greedy insurance companies to live up to their
contractual responsibilities.
Please look at your insurance
policy to see if you have the proper coverage before you have
an accident. There are many deadbeat drivers in Florida
who do not have bodily injury coverage or minimal coverage.
Many times they will flee the accident location. Because
of these factors, you may be limited to what coverage you have
on your policy to pay for your injuries unless you have
uninsured motorist coverage. We personally, "stack our
policies to increase our $500,000.00 of coverage.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE INJURED
-
Seek appropriate medical help at once
-
Contact your Auto Insurance Company and
get a Claim number. since Florida has a "no fault
insurance" law so you can bill your insurance company for
the cost of treatment.
-
Discuss your case with a qualified
attorney to make sure you follow the proper procedures to
get your claim paid properly.
We must have a Physicians prescription in
order for us to bill your insurance company for treatment.
Examples of physicians are MD's DO's, Chiropractors, and
acupuncturists. The prescription should
state Massage Therapy, Ultrasound, Manual Therapy or a
combination of these terms. It must further state what
is wrong (medical diagnosis) a plan of treatment such as
number of times to treat and the length of the treatment.
(Many times 4 to 6 weeks)
We are not physical therapists, so the prescription can not
state, "physical therapy" for us to treat.
We are finding that some greedy Chiropractors are
telling their patients that they must get massage at their
clinic or they will not write a prescription for massage
therapy or manual therapy. This is a violation of Florida law
and medical ethics. Do you really want someone to
treat you who practices in such an unethical way? The patient always has the right to get
massage where they choose to and report such behavior to the
proper medical board.
The Florida Legislature has
determined the maximum amounts that can be billed for PIP which
is 200 percent of 2007 Federal Medicare allowable reimbursement.
The insurance companies are allowed to discount this amount by 20
percent. The patient is which is responsible for the 20
percent unless they have
purchased Medical Payments Insurance.
We have had outstanding results
being paid in a timely manner when billing Geico
and Liberty
Mutual. We hope these companies will continue to
operate with integrity.
Many times early treatment can
make the difference between a speedy recover and lingering
soft tissue injuries. Call us and we will be happy to
discuss your situation.
